Hi Scott, It's tough for me to pick a winner, but I'm thinking the finishis going to look more like a U.S. Open than a traditional Masters. The course plays so long now that it's tough for a player to make a charge through the pack, particularly if it's wet at all. I'm thinking the edge goes to an exceptionally long hitter, probably someone who has won a major before...
This is the most exciting time of the year for any golfer and golf fan. All the sports great professional and amateurs players are gathered in one of the sports most traditional and historic spots. There is plenty of drama, as always, and more to come. Will there be a changing of golf's guard among the elite players. Will Tiger come back?, this week or ever. Can Phil keep up his stellar play from last week? Could European golfers own all four of golf's major titles at the same time for the first year ever. For myself I can't wait. Let's get it started!
An American Golf Writer Furman Bisher, who has been here for the last 60 masters, once said. At the masters, manners still matter. Young American star Rickie Fowler found that out in his pre Masters press conference Tuesday when he was told to turn his hat around forward before he could begin. After mild protest, he did as he was told. For at the Masters, it's still manners and style. To win on sunday I'm picking another American young gun, Hunter Mahan, who has before well on the stage, but never won on the biggest. Phil's stellar victory in houston certainly gives me pause, but give me Hunter, Phil second and as a wild card Anthony Kim -- a true wild card if there ever was one!
Phil proved last year a back nine charge is still possible. See what he did Sunday on the par 5 13th. Anthony Kim shot 65 with a 30 here. It';s the greatest tournament back nine in golf. I can't wait to get started.
:-) it was a small teaching for Rickie. Especially young stars should lead by example. However the reporters´ approach wasn´t standard as well. Regarding winner - sorry guys, but I think the green jacket will go to Europe this year .....:-):-):-)
Not being it for the few missed putts he could have been much closer to the lead. Now, as we're heading to the final round, he's seven shots down from the lead, which seems to be too big a gap. But one never knows, we'll see. I'd love to see him finish at least on the second spot, which is just three shots away from him now.
