Titleist adds clubs for players not so skilled
For just about as long as the company has been producing high-quality golf equipment, Titleist has been proud of its’ reputation for making golf equipment for serious golfers. For many golfers, that reputation has long been interpreted as meaning Titleist clubs are intended for only the best players, the ones with the single-digit handicaps.

Make no doubt, as evidenced by the number of professionals who play Titleist clubs, the clubs work well for the better players. But over the years, the company has made efforts to create equipment that works well for players not so skilled.
That effort continues with the extension of the 910 line of drivers, fairways and hybrids, all designed for players with moderate swing speeds. That extension takes place in three ways, according to Chris McGinley,vice-president of marketing for Titleist golf clubs.
“First, we’ve added higher lofts to the 910 metals line,” McGinley said. “We now have a driver with 12 degrees of loft. Research showed us that a club with that loft launches the ball higher and provides significantly greater distance for players whose ball speeds falls in the ranger of 110 and 130 miles per hour.”
Titleist has also added a fairway club to the 910 family with a loft of 21 degrees and a hybrid of 27 degrees. The new clubs increase launch and spin for more stable ball flight and even better consistency as opposed to long irons. An added bonus is the ability to generate better stopping power and control into greens as well as helping with distance gapping from irons to driver.
The clubs will also feature lighter weight Mitsubishi Bassare W shafts in its Moderate Speed 910 options. These shafts are composed of graphite laminate, reinforced with elastic titanium nickel wire, allowing the shaft to bend more easily to store maximum energy and recover its original shape more quickly.
The final part of Titleist’s trifecta is encouraging moderate-swing golfers to take advantage of the company’s heralded fitting program, with an emphasis on getting an optimal set configuration. That goes along way toward ensuring that slower swingers have the proper gaps between their clubs while choosing the best ones to produce optimal launch and spin conditions.
“We understand that serious golfers come in all shapes andsizes,” said Dan Stone, Vice President of Research & Development for Titleist Golf Clubs. “The new options available within the 910 metals lineafford us the ability to properly fit and equip any player, regardless of swingspeed or shaft load profile. With our new shafts and the broadest selection of metal lofts that Titleist has ever offered, we now have thef lexibility to put the right 14 clubs in the bag for anyone. The onlyr equirement is that you are serious about your game and you want to get themost out of your game."
