Punter Wins £25,000 on McIlroy

The shrewd gambler, who had played with the young Rory at Holywood Golf Club, put £50 on the golfing starlet at 500-1 to win a Major before he was 25.
And there was more than just the McIlroy’s commanding Congressional performance exciting punters. McIlroy’s father, Gerry and three of his friends put down £100 each on Rory when he was 15 to win the Open Championship before his 25th birthday in May, 2014. If McIlroy’s father and friends pull off the beat they’re set to earn £200,000 apiece.
The Holywood Golf Club was jam packed when McIlroy stormed to an eight-shot success in the U.S. capital. The crowd yelled: "Easy! Easy" and sang "Rory, Rory Hallelujah!" as he strolled to victory, putting his last-round heartache at the Augusta National in April behind him.
